CCC Chinese Language Education Pilot Program Registration Announcement & Instruction (2007 - 2008)

1.Our Mission
Creating a quality and fun learning environment. Learning Chinese through fairy tales, poems, classical stories, etc. Achieving measurable language capabilities. Meanwhile, to engage parents to learn culture; and to facilitate cultural exchange among communities.

2.2007-2008 School time & location:

=> Starting time: September 09, 2007 (Proposed)

=> Sunday 9:00 – 12:00 AM, Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), DiLoreto Hall; 1615 Stanley Street, New Britain

Sunday 1:30 - 4:30 PM, Timothy Edward Middle School(TEMS), 100 Arnold Way, South Windsor

4. Student Registration Information:
=> New Students:

o Mail in before September 10, 2007
o In person – September 09, 2007 (The last opportunity) on site
  1. 9:30 – 11:30 AM, Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), DiLoreto Hall; 1615 Stanley Street, New Britain
  2. 1:30 - 3:30 PM, Lobby, Timothy Edwards Middle School (TEMS), 100 Arnold Way, South Windsor

=>Returning Students:

(1)Registration form and check submit to Parent Representative by May 6 & 13 (CHL)
(2)Registration form and check submit to Registration Committee by May 6 & 13 (CFL)

=> Eligibility and available classes:
Students enrolling in Preschool must be 4 years old by December 31, 2007. Students enrolling in Kindergarten must be 5 years old by December 31, 2007. Birth Certificate will be required on registration date. Minimum 8 students per class are required for any new classes opened during 07-08 school year. Minimum 6 students per class are required for any previous classes opened before 07-08 school year. Class may be canceled if it is not reach the minimum student amount.

=> Language Class:
 o Sunday 9:00 – 10:50 AM (CCSU)
 o Sunday 1:30 – 3:20 PM (TEMS)

=> Culture Activities:
 o Sunday 11:00 – 12:00 AM (CCSU)
 o Sunday 3:30 – 4:30 PM (TEMS)

Preschool: Age 4 by 2007-12-31
Kindergarten: Age 5-6
1st Grade: Age 6-7
2nd Grade: Age 7-8, knowing 300 Chinese characters
3rd Grade:Age 8-9, knowing 600 Chinese characters
4th Grade: Age 9-10, knowing 900 Chinese characters

Other Grades based on age and level of proficiencies

T1 (Transition 1): Age 9-12 with no prior Chinese learning experience
T2 (Transition 2): Age 10-13, knowing 300 Chinese characters
T3 (Transition 3): Age10-13, knowing 600 Chinese characters
T4 (Transition 4): Age 12-15, knowing 900 Chinese characters
T5 (Transition 5): Age 13-16, knowing 1200 Chinese characters

Chinese As Foreign Language (CFL)

=>Location: Timothy Edward Middle School(TEMS), 100 Arnold Way, South Windsor (PM)
=> Language Class: Sunday 2:15 - 3:15 PM
=> Culture Activities: Sunday 3:30 - 4:30 PM

1. Preschool: Age 4 by 2007-12-31
2. Kindergarten: Age 5-6
  a.K (Beginner-A):Age 5-6 with no Chinese learning background
  b.K (Beginner-B): Returning students completed Preschool last year
3.L1 – Level 1:Age 7 and up with no Chinese learning background
  a.L1 - A1: Age 7 – 9 with no Chinese learning background
  b.L1 – A2: Age 10 – 12 with no Chinese learning background
  c.L1 – B: Returning students completed kindergarten last year -->
4.L2 – Level 2: Age 7 and up with L1 equivalent language skills
  a.L2 - A1: Age 7 – 9 with L1 equivalent language skills
  b.L2 – A2: Age 10 – 12 with L1 equivalent language skills
  c.L2 – B: Returning students completed L1 class last year -->
5.L3 – Level 3 or other: Based on demand

Text Book from “Better Chinese” series and Learning Objectives:

“My First Chinese Reader” (Level 1-4) of the series has total 48 lessons (12 lessons per volume) covering topics essential for communication, emphasizing speaking and listening. By completing Volume 1-4, a student would also achieve recognizing 700 words and writing 215 characters.

“My First Chinese Words” teaches over 150 words covering 22 topics from a child's world, like family, friends, food, animals, home, school and more. 36 books with easy-to-read script and vivid illustrations that make learning Chinese fun and natural. The accompanying Audio CD allows children to hear the correct pronunciation of words and learn as naturally as they would in a native speaking environment. (For PS & Kindergarten)

5. Tuition and Fees
=> Chinese As Heritage Language (CHL)
- Tuition (Except PS): $200 / student / year
- Preschool: $100/student/year
- Text Book (Except PS): $50 - text book, exercise & character books & CD’s;
- Preschool Text Book: $75 - good for 3 years

=> Chinese As Foreign Language (CFL)
- Tuition (All Levels): $150/student/year
- Text Book (Except PS & K): $50 / year
- Text Book (Preschool & Kindergarten): $75 - good for 3 years

* All books include exercise & character books; CD’s are also included for preschool and Kindergarten (see details on class arrangement)

* A late fee of $25 will be charged if registered after September 10, 2007 for New Student or after May 13, 2007 for Returning Student

=> After School Activities for one year (optional): $50 / student / year
Separate registration form, check and receipt for each child within family.

All checks payable to Chinese Language Pilot Program

CCC Membership Fee for one year: $25.00 per family,
Separate check payable to Chinese Culture Center


Refund Policy
Students who withdraw one day prior to the first session will be refunded at 100%. A 50% refund will be granted if a request is made on the day of the first session. No refund will be allowed after the second session. If school decides to cancel the class due to the lack of interest, 100% of refund for that class will be allowed. Textbooks are non-refundable.

  • => Please fill in registration form, Emergency Contact and Medical Information form and receipt (2 parts); Read and understand the policies (Safety Rules and Responsibilities, Picture Release Agreement and Parents Manual); Sign off the forms and receipt; Keep the parent part of the receipt; Hand in or mail in the forms, the school part of the receipt and Two checks for registration.

    • Hi, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one
      and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam responses?
      If so how do you stop it, any plugin or anything you can suggest?
